Nuketown 2025 was a special pre-order bonus that gamers received on the launch day of Black Ops II. The map was extremely popular back in the original Black Ops and many people were excited to see its new, futuristic return in Black Ops II.
But after Activision pulled the “Nuketown 2025 / 24-7†playlist from online ranked matchmaking, happy is the last thing that comes to mind with the Call of Duty community. Gamers are doing everything from creating forums on the matter to tweeting complaints at game developer, Treyarch, with the hashtag “#bringbacknuketown2025.â€
Treyarch game design director, David Vonderhaar, responded on twitter yesterday saying “double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. RIGHT? Don’t kill the messenger.â€
Vonderhaar went on to add that “Nuketown 2025 / 24-7†will be back for “special events†and it is still available for players in the custom game mode.
Due to the backlash, Treyarch has released a new exclusive playlist for the owners of the map called “Chaos moshpit†where people can play a variety of game modes on the smaller maps of Black Ops II; “Carrier, Cargo, Express, Hijacked, Slums, and Standoff.†Treyarch calls it the “fast action playlist†and is bringing back Nuketown 2025 to place in the playlist map rotation.
